My name is Ian Fairhurst, 2nd Dan Black Belt instructor of the Arksey and Edlington branches of Scorpion Taekwondo. I was one of the original members of Scorpion Taekwondo when the club was formed by Master Pete Adamsons over 20 years ago. I have competed in full contact competitions all over the UK and in 1992 I was runner up in the British Junior Championships before a serious knee injury ended my competition days in 1993. Determined to bounce back, I underwent an operation at the end of 1993 and commenced training in 1994. I continued training in the following years and in 2000, as the then present instructor moved on to pastures new, I took over teaching of the Arksey Branch. In 2001 I was promoted to Black Belt 1st Dan, which then gave me the confidence to build up the club. On the 12 December 2010 i was promoted to 2nd Dan. Over the years I have helped students realise their dreams of reaching the grade of black belt and winning medals and trophies at local and national level in full contact competitions. Today I still have the same passion and desire for taekwondo in helping students achieve their goals.
